Movie Review: Idiocracy R-5 Strings

you have NEVER seen a movie like this. team america in the other direction. my brother and i shouldve watched this one together. ironic and truthful. story about a world of nothing but stupid people. from the creator of beavis and butthead, since we didnt get the irony the first time.

Movie Review: My Super Ex-Girlfriend PG13-3 Strings

this movie wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. actually funny in spots. plain stupid and really unoffensive. if you can tolerate superhero movies, you will appreciate some of the inside humor. uma thurman is wonderful and luke wilson is really funny in spots. enjoy.

Movie Review: World Trade Center PG13-4 Strings

this film plays easy on the emotions/patriotism of the tradgedy. in that sense its a good film...a harrowing story. the marine in the film is a charicature ("use my knife; best thats ever been made", and when asked if he could shorten his name, staff seargent karns replied "staff seargent"). practically comedic.

Movie Review: A Scanner Darkly R-2 Strings

no protagonist until the very end. i havent read the story, but i dont see this film as being an accurate portrayal. it tried very hard to be another bladerunner--but you know its sad when a movie is cartooned like this one and you can STILL see the bad acting. (woody harelson)

Movie Review: The Devil And Daniel Johnston PG13-3 Strings

as docs go, this one doesnt blow me away. story about a guy who became pretty successful in the music business despite mental disablities. this dudes songs have been covered by everyone...sonic youth, pearl jam, nirvarna, neil young, you name it. i'd never heard of him. shows you how uncool i am.

SNAFU

Movie Review: Lady In The Water PG13-4 Strings

a wonderful fantasy tale like the old movie 'dark crystal'. lots of unexpected twists and colorful, humorous characters. writer/director m. night does have a problem with his endings (signs, the village). theyre always such a letdown, which i think has everything to do with his ability to set up profound tension. i think viewers are tired of big set ups and terrible letdown endings.

Movie Review: Apocalypto R-5 Strings

brilliant flick. yeah, i know, its not perfect. but name a film this good that has screened in the last 10 years. name one. there are a couple of moments which are equal to every film ever made...i'll cite them if you want. play big...this is the real deal. fantastic plot.

Movie Review: Jet Li's Fearless R-3 Strings

i cant think of anyone not interested in martial art who would be interested in this film. jet li is the master. period. this film, however, wont fly in the 'west'. top notch kung fu (wu shoo), so you have nothing to fear on that front. top-shelf east, bottom shelf west.

Movie Review: The Black Dahlia R-2 Strings

a 1940s film doing a 2007 interpretation of a 1950s gangster flick. sure all of the actors do a fine job, but who really cares about a fake feaux gumshoe adventure? outdated genre. one of the worst versions of the classic era ive ever seen.

Movie Review: Snakes On A Plane R-3 Strings

a 'b-movie' that tried so hard to make the 'a-list' cut. one string up for the 'r' rating, but the bad acting by the many extras, and the forced sense of humor were just too painful to watch. unbelievable and funny, but not in a good way.

Movie Review: Little Miss Sunsine R-3 Strings

part 2 of 'uber depressing' film wednesday. touching story directed by 'captain irony' (grandpa on heroin anyone?), but had some fun and funny moments. i am, however, getting a little tired of condescending/ultra hip college alt-rock soundtracks designed to make me feel like an outsider. 3 strings...no soup for you!

Movie Review: The Last Kiss R-3 Strings

damn these films are depressing. i blame william hurt (the big chill, et al) for this type of 'ive got everything, but not satisfied' flicks. poor zach braff...he's not hansome enough to land TWO smoking hot broads. lots and lots of disfunction and 90s emotional chaos. enjoy! (3 cheers for jacinda barrett!!)

Movie Review: Taladega Nights PG13-4 Strings

will ferrell is hilarious, and the slapstick comedy reminds me alot of the old 'airplane' movie. the film goes south when it tries to tell a bonifide story. tell any story you want...but in a flim like this one, you cant take yourself too seriously. it didnt hit well with the 'red state' folks, i presume because it makes nascar drivers/fans look like dolts.

Movie Review: Who Killed The Electric Car PG-4 Strings

you already know the answer to this one...politicians, automakers, oil companies...the usual suspects. were you aware that gm, honda and toyota were producing and leasing fully electric vehicles in the late 90s? the companies recalled and destroyed every single one of them. hybrid cars are an attempt to appease oil companies. america...f--- yeah!

Movie Review: Pulse PG13-3 Strings

apparently this is a remake of a japanese film called kairo. plenty of loud PG13 noise and strange gouls with open mouths and black eyes. beautiful people and the right cliche around every corner. the movie became apocalyptic at the end, which i rather liked. the female lead was very not ugly, which i also liked.

Movie Review: Jackass Number Two UR-4 Strings

i could watch these dudes do stunts for hours. really hilarious. i could use a little less of the vomit/puke/wiener stuff, but the stunts are some of the funniest around...medicine ball fight in the dark anyone? laughed so hard i got a headache.

Movie Review: The Descent UR-3 Strings

good chase film, really really hard to distinguish between the different characters. both my brother and i werent sure who was whom. further, we didnt really know (or care) who the protagonist was. ok film.
