Movie Review: Merchant of Venice R-4 Strings

im always suspect of any movie based on a shakespeare play. the typical mindset of hollywood has more to do with the narrative and less to do with the art of the work. that said, this movie wasnt that bad. al pacino (italian) does a fine enough job playing shylock (jewish), though he didnt pull it off as well as he couldve. lots of gratuitous barechestedness in this, which i think the director was trying to suggest as ribald romance...didnt work. kind of brainy.
